Technical SEO for products, built by the people who build the product.

Site speed, structured data, crawlable architecture, and content designed to be quoted by AI answer engines as well as ranked by Google. Engineering work, not a monthly report.

Most SEO retainers sell reporting. The work that actually moves rankings for a software business is engineering: making pages render fast on a mid-range phone, giving crawlers a clean architecture, marking up entities so machines understand what you do, and publishing pages that answer a specific question better than the incumbent.

Search has also changed shape. A growing share of commercial queries are now answered inside Google's AI overviews, ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity — where the winner is not the best-optimised page but the most quotable one. We build for both.

Technical foundations

  • Core Web Vitals — LCP, INP, and CLS measured on real mid-range devices, then fixed at the code level.
  • Crawl architecture — flat, logical URL structure, internal linking that spreads authority, and no orphan pages.
  • Structured data — Organisation, Service, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Article, and Product markup, validated and kept accurate.
  • Indexation hygiene — canonical tags, correct pagination, parameter handling, and no thin pages diluting the site.
  • Rendering — server-rendered or statically generated content, because JavaScript-only pages are still crawled unevenly.
  • Internationalisation — hreflang done correctly for multi-country and multi-language sites.
  • Redirect integrity — every migration mapped so accumulated authority survives the move.
  • Analytics — GA4 and Search Console configured to show which pages produce enquiries, not just sessions.

Being cited by AI answer engines

Answer engines summarise and attribute. Getting quoted depends on different signals from classic ranking, and most of them are structural:

Direct answers near the top

A question answered plainly in the first paragraph is extractable. One answered after four paragraphs of preamble is not.

Specific, checkable facts

Named numbers, defined terms, and stated conditions get quoted. Marketing adjectives never do.

Clean semantic HTML

Real headings, lists, tables, and definition lists give a model structure to work with.

Machine-readable identity

Consistent Organisation markup and matching details across your site, profiles, and listings.

An llms.txt summary

A plain-text map of what your site covers, so crawlers can orient without parsing every page.

Comparison content

Honest side-by-side comparisons are disproportionately cited, because that is what people ask these systems for.

What we will not do

Common tacticOur position
Buying backlinksNo. It works until a penalty makes it catastrophic.
Publishing thin pages at scaleNo. Hundreds of near-duplicate pages suppress the site overall.
Keyword stuffingNo. It reads badly to humans and no longer helps machines.
Guaranteeing a number-one rankingNo. Anyone guaranteeing this is either lying or bidding on your brand name.
Locking you into a monthly reportNo. The audit and the fixes are yours whether you continue or not.

Questions, answered.

How long before we see results?
Technical fixes — speed, indexation, structured data — often show in Search Console within two to six weeks because they change how existing pages are crawled and rendered. Rankings for competitive commercial terms take months, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. We report against both timelines separately so progress is visible early.
What is llms.txt and do we need one?
It is a plain-text file at the root of your site that summarises what the site covers and links to its key pages, intended for AI crawlers. It is a convention rather than a standard, and no engine currently guarantees to honour it. It costs almost nothing to publish, so we include one — but the substantive work is making the pages themselves quotable.
Can you help us appear in ChatGPT and Google's AI overviews?
We can improve the odds substantially, and we will not pretend it is deterministic. What demonstrably helps: answering questions directly and early on the page, publishing specific verifiable facts rather than adjectives, using clean semantic markup, keeping your entity details consistent everywhere, and publishing genuinely useful comparison content. Nobody can guarantee inclusion in a system with no ranking API.
Do you do link building?
Not the kind you buy. We will help you earn links through content worth citing, digital PR, and listings that legitimately apply to your business. Purchased links carry a real risk of a manual action, and we are not willing to put a client's domain in that position.
Will you write our content?
We write and structure the technical and commercial pages — service pages, comparison content, and documentation-style guides — because that is where our subject knowledge is real. For high-volume editorial content in a specialist industry, a writer who knows that field will beat us, and we will say so.
Can you fix SEO on a site you didn't build?
Yes, on most stacks — WordPress, Shopify, Next.js, Laravel, and custom applications. We start with a crawl and an audit, then implement the fixes directly or hand your developers a prioritised, specific brief if you would rather they did the work.

You do not have to commit to a whole build.

Most people arrive somewhere between “just curious” and “ready to sign”. These are the smaller, fixed-fee ways in — each one useful on its own, and each one credited or extended into a bigger project only if you decide you want that.

Code & architecture audit

You have a codebase — inherited, stalled, or just worrying — and want an honest read before committing to anything.

  • Written report on architecture, security, data model and deployment
  • A prioritised list separating genuinely urgent from merely untidy
  • A straight answer on repair versus rebuild, even when rebuild pays us more
  • The report is yours whether or not you continue with us

Scoping sprint

You know roughly what you want but not what it should cost or contain. Turn a vague idea into a specification you could hand to any supplier.

  • Process mapping with the people who actually do the work
  • A feature-by-feature written specification
  • Wireframes of the core screens
  • A fixed build price and delivery date at the end
  • Fully credited against the build if you go ahead with us

Starter build

One workflow, one screen set, live and in use — rather than waiting on a full platform.

  • A single working feature deployed to production
  • Real infrastructure, not a prototype
  • Extends into the larger build later without rework
  • Full source code on delivery, as always
Fixed price, scoped small on purpose Ask about this →

Maintenance retainer

An existing product that needs keeping alive: patches, OS updates, store policy changes and monitoring.

  • Security and dependency patching
  • iOS and Android release compatibility
  • Uptime and error monitoring with a named response window
  • An allowance of small changes each month
Monthly, 30 days' notice, no lock-in Ask about this →

Not sure which fits? Describe the problem and we will tell you — including when the answer is that you do not need us yet.

Six things we put in writing.

Not values on a wall — contract terms. Ask any other supplier to match them line by line.

A price in 24 hours

Send a brief, get a fixed written price and a delivery date the next working day. Free, no obligation, and the scope document is yours to keep even if you go elsewhere.

The price does not move

Fixed, not an estimate. If scope changes we re-quote in writing and you approve before we build it. You will never open a surprise invoice.

Half on delivery

50% to start, 50% when it is live and you are satisfied. You never fund the whole project up front.

Unlimited design revisions

We do not write production code until you approve the screens. Changing your mind at that stage costs nothing.

You own everything

Full source code, design files and credentials on delivery. No licence, no platform fee, nothing that stops another developer taking over.

30 days of fixes included

Free bug fixing for a month after launch, then an optional retainer only if you want one.

Every one of these is in the agreement before you pay anything. See how we evidence our claims →

Tell us what you're building.

A paragraph is enough to start. You get a scoping conversation and a fixed written price with a delivery date within 24 hours — free, and yours to keep whether or not you go ahead with us.
